900,720. Gripping loads; masted lift trucks. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU VERLADEUND TRANSPORTANLAGEN LEIPZIG VEB. April 20, 1960, No. 13817/60. Classes 78 (3) and 78 (4). A masted lift truck load engaging grab has a fixed jaw 19, and a movable jaw 10 pivoted at 9 to a pair of parallel levers 6 which are pivoted at 8 to an arm 2, and at 7 to links 5; the arm 2 and links 5 being pivoted respectively at 3 and 4 to a frame 1 which is provided with means for attaching it to the lifting carriage of a masted lift truck, and supports an hydraulic ram 11 which is pivoted at 13 to arm 2. A load-steadying pad 14 which is secured to a lever R pivoted to frame 1 at 15, is automatically moved into contact with the load by a link L on extension of the ram. The lifting carriage may be provided with means for rotating the grab about a horizontal axis.
