Abstract

1,167,467. Masted lift trucks. CASCADE CORP. 12 Feb., 1968 [12 June, 1967], No. 6860/68. Heading B8H. Apparatus on a lift truck for inverting a load supported on a pallet comprises support forks 26 and clamp forks 28, mounted on a frame 24 for movement towards each other to grip the load and pallet therebetween, and lateral stabilizing forks 30 mounted on the frame 24 which is rotatable on the lifting carriage about a horizontal longitudinal axis. Also mounted on the frame 24 is a pusher frame 32 which is movable longitudinally and which is provided with a jaw mechanism 34, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), for pulling a sheet-type pallet on to the forks 28. A sub-frame 58 is mounted on the frame 24 for limited vertical movement and is provided with a pad 60 which may be lowered to grip a sheet-type pallet supported on the forks 28 prior to actuation of the pusher frame 32 to push the load off the pallet. The pusher frame is connected to the sub-frame 58 by pivoted linkages 72a, 72b actuated by hydraulic rams 88. In operation, a sheet-type pallet supporting a load may be drawn on to the forks 28 by means of the jaw mechanism 34 and the pusher frame 32. The load may subsequently be pushed off the forks by the pusher frame whilst the pallet is retained on the forks by the pad 60. A load may be transferred between a sheet-type pallet and a raised-platform pallet by supporting the load on one pallet on the lower forks, placing the other pallet on top of the load and clamping the load and pallet between the upper and lower forks. The forks and load are then inverted and the load is released.
