Abstract

829,369. Masted lift trucks. RODMAN, S. E. Feb. 14, 1958 [March 2, 1957], No. 7012/57. Class 78 (3). The jaws of a load gripping clamp mounted on the lifting carriage of a masted lift truck each comprise a laterally movable arm 15 connected to a pressure plate 19 by a rubber strip 18 and pins 17 which permit a limited amount of universal movement whilst preventing any movement of the plate parallel to the plane of the adjacent surface of arm 15. A plate 21, provided with load engaging pads 24, is attached at each end of plate 19 by a similar mounting comprising a pin 23 and a rubber strip 22. Each plate 19 carries an article steadying frame 27, 28. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown), pads 24 are mounted directly on plates 19 which are shaped to embrace a barrel.
