Abstract

899,960. Transformers and inductances. WILSON, R. A. April 21, 1961 [Jan. 22, 1960], No. 2472/60. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXXVI] An assembly comprises an electrical tuning coil on a tubular former on one end of which is mounted a variable disc type trimmer (see Group XXXVI). The tubular former 10 which is of insulating material carries transformer windings 12, 13 and has a platform 11 on which is mounted a variable capacitor. The inside of the former is threaded to take a dust or ferrite core 14 and the same thread can be used to secure the former to the chassis by a bolt 16 with a coaxial hole 17, to allow adjustment of core 14, or a hollow pillar screwed into the former (not illustrated) secured to the chassis by a spring clip. Another alternative mounting is a double-ended bolt with a polystyrene head, one end screws into the former and the other end, which may be of brass, is passed through chassis and secured by a nut. The double-ended bolt is hollow to allow adjustment of core 14. An additional tag ring may be sandwiched between the bolt head and the former and in some cases with this arrangement the tag platform 11 may be dispensed with. Specification 666,321 is referred to.
