Abstract
996,869. Inductances. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. Jan. 10, 1964 [Jan. 10, 1963], No. 1251/64. Heading H1T. A control rod which adjusts the position of a magnetic core 22 (Fig. 4), in a tuning coil 26 and which is made of dielectric material comprises a portion 16 having a configuration complementary to the bore through the core 22, a handle 12 at one end and a deformable retaining hook 34 which is provided at the other end of the portion and which, after being pushed from one end through the core, engages the other end of the core. The other end of the core may also be engaged by a projection 40. In order to move the core axially within the coil the core is threaded on its outer part to engage with complementary threads in the bore of the coil or alternatively part of the rod between its ends is threaded to engage with a nut attached to the coil (Fig. 8, not shown). The coil which comprises windings 27 wound on and insulated from a supporting tube 28 is provided with tapping terminals 30. The core may be made of carbon containing ferrite and the control rod may be of nylon.
