Abstract
1,027,862. Electrical transformers. P. A. KLAUDY. Jan. 11, 1963 [Jan. 20, 1962], No. 1327/63. Heading H1T. An electrical transformer comprises windings of materials, such as niobium-zirconium, which remain superconductive even at high magnetic field intensities, and no ferromagnetic core is provided. The windings may be of annular or toroidal form, in the latter case, the crosssections of the windings being either circular or square, this arrangement ensuring that there is only a minimum stray field. The windings are either self-supporting or are mechanically supported by light non-magnetic materials. Auto-transformers may be constructed in this manner.
