A former for a high-frequency inductor having an adjustable magnetic core 6 comprises a sleeve 1 of resilient plastic material, the sleeve being provided with one or more internal longitudinally extending ribs 4 and adapted to permit the externally screw-threaded core 6 to be screwed into the sleeve 1 by virtue of a selftapping action of the core 6 on the ribs 4. An external longitudinally extending rib 2 may be provided on the sleeve and adapted to be slotted so as to form an anchor or anchors for the coil end or ends. Should the coils need a circular cross-section, the rib 2 may have a part removed.
