A former for an inductor comprises a tubular body 1 of insulating material of uniform internal cross-section, the tube being provided with one or more internallyprojecting ribs 3 extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tube, the insulating material being such and the dimensions of the ribs being so arranged that a magnetic core 4 may be screwed into the former by virtue of a selftapping action on the ribs.
