Abstract
903,178. Inductances. CAMBRIDGE THERMIONIC CORPORATION. May 19, 1959, No. 16946/59. Class 38 (2). A variable inductance has its coil 27 arranged on a phenolic resin former 23 which fits in the narrower lower end 21.2 of a one-piece brass housing 21.1, the adjustable iron powder core 24 carried on spindle 25 screwing in the lower end of the housing at 21.3, being fully withdrawable from the coil. The winding is surrounded by a cup-shaped core 28 sitting on a rubber washer 21.9 and with a cap 29 surmounted by a sponge rubber spacer 31 under terminal board 32 which is held on by spring ring 35. Epoxy resin may be introduced into the coil space and cured. In a modification (Fig. 8), the spring ring is replaced by a cap 51, the adjustable core member is secured by a torsion spring 62 and the unit may be secured to a printed circuit panel 40.
