Abstract

899,350. Generating combustion products under pressure. BAHCO A.B. Feb. 11, 1960 [Feb. 16, 1959; April 20, 1959], No. 4860/60. Class 51 (1). [Also in Group XIII] Apparatus for heating air for a vehicle (see Group XIII) includes a cylindrical, horizontal, liquid-fuel fired combustion chamber 1 around which are arranged passages for air to be heated forced therethrough by a motor-driven fan 7. Combustion air is supplied through an annular clearance 17 between the fan hub and an annular member 15 surrounding the vaporizer section 20, and this air flows by way of ports 23, 24 to the combustion zone. Liquid fuel is supplied to the vaporizing section 20 by a pump (not shown) from a level regulator 27. The vaporizing section incorporates an igniter 22 which is switched off by a thermostat when combustion has been initiated. Additional combustion air enters the combustion chamber at the rear end thereof through ports 33. Gases are exhausted from the combustion chamber through a duct 11 which incorporates an ejector consisting of a pipe 21 through which pressure air from the air heating passage 5 is branched off. Openings 26 leading to ambient air are formed in the exhaust duct 11 immediately below the ejector 21. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), combustion air may also enter the combustion chambe rin the vicinity of a constrictor flange 24<SP>1</SP>.
