897,831. Stud and socket fastenings. PRESTOLE CORPORATION. June 8, 1959, No. 19579/59. Class 44. An assembly consists of a moulding strip M secured to an apertured panel P by means of a fastener 10, the moulding strip being formed with a web and longitudinal flanges F on its undersides and the fastener comprising a single strip of resilient material in the shape of a head 11 and a snap engaging stud inclined to one another at approximately right angles, the head being part circular and formed with a pair of spaced, diametrically opposed, camming surfaces 11 a the approximate centre of the heads being offset with respect to the major axis of the stud, the snap-engaging stud being engaged in the aperture in the panel so that the fastener is rotatable in the aperture about the major axis of the stud and the head of the fastener being engaged with the moulding strip, each camming surface of the head bearing against a longitudinal inner side surface of the moulding strip. The stud consists of a pair of arms 14, 15 as shown but alternatively can be of V-shape with snap engaging elbows. The stud arms may be connected directly to the camming surfaces 11 or may be spaced therefrom and connected to them by arms 13 as shown; the stud arms may be either inside the head or outside it. Opposite the stud the head can be provided with a U or V-shaped detent 12 which projects downwardly to engage the panel P. The heads can be provided with flat portions to limit its rotation.
