A cam bolt device includes a cam bolt 14 with a shank having a head 15 of greater length than width and capable of engaging an exposed face of one of two members 10, 11 with flat faces on opposite sides thereof when these are arranged with the flat face of one member in face-to-face relationship with the flat face of the other member and when said one member has a slot opening 12 between its flat faces and the other a circular hole 13 between its flat faces, the shank of the cam bolt being such as to project from the hole; two spaced-apart stop surfaces 38 capable of being arranged one on each side of the part of the shank which, when the device is assembled to said flat-faced members projects from the circular hole and so as to be non-rotatable with respect to the shank, a stop member 31 capable of being mounted on the shank so as to rotate therewith, the stop member being so shaped and dimensioned as to co-operate with the stop surfaces when these are arranged as aforesaid so as to prevent the shank from being rotated more than one quarter of a turn and a resilient washer 32 capable of being positioned on the shank between the flatfaced member having the circular holes and the stop member when the shank passes through the opening and the hole and of urging the head against the member with the slot opening when the head is transverse to the slot opening. The stop surfaces 38 are flanges of a channel member and this member, the resilient member and the stop member 31, are retained on the shank by a nut 29, which is secured to the shank by a cotter pin. The bolt head 15 is of T-shape and is provided with two cam surfaces 55 for ease of engagement with the upper surface 18 of the member 10 when the bolt is rotated. The stop member 31 is a washer having a non-circular aperture which engages a non-circular portion of the bolt shank so that the washer turns with the bolt. The washer is of eye shape having opposite right-angular corners 35 so that its rotation between the flanges 38 of the channel member is limited to the quarter turn. The washer is provided with four grooves 45, 90 degrees apart and these engage a ridge 44 in the resilient member so that the washer 31 is retained in its extreme positions of movement. The resilient member is of rectangular shape and fits between the flanges of the channel member so that it cannot turn. In a modification the washer 31 has its grooves so constructed that radial ridges are formed on the opposite side of the washer to the grooves and these engage radial notches in the nut 29; with such a construction the cotter pin can be eliminated.
