Abstract

Class 44 In a stud and keyhole fastening device the stud is secured to a resilient strip provided with a latch, comprising a projection pressed out of the plane of the strip, the arrangement being such that when the stud is located in the narrow end of the keyhole, the latch engages a portion of the member, provided with the keyhole, to prevent movement of the stud longitudinally of the keyhole from the narrow end thereof. As shown, a shud 1 which comprises a tee-nut 4 having a flange 5 and dependent legs 6, is provided with a resilient clip 7 secured to the lower ends of the legs 6 and forms the base of the stud. The clip is formed by two bowed portions 8 and 9, the portion 9 being provided with a tongue 13 which when the stud is engaged in the narrow end 16 of the slot 3 in a member 2, abuts an end wall 20 at the other end of the slot to releasably retain the stud in position. In this position, the clip 7 completely covers the slot 3. A component may be secured between the member 2 and a screw 21 which co-operates with the nut 4, the tightening of the screw then flattening the clip between the component and the member 2. The stud may form part of a component and the screw and nut connection be dispensed with. The slot 3 may be a groove, wedge shaped in plan view, the stud being suitably shaped to co-operate therewith.
