Abstract

1,121,230. Stud and socket fastenings. A. RAYMOND. 16 Dec., 1966 [17 Dec., 1965]. No. 56539/66. Heading E2B. A fastening comprises a washer 2 having a central aperture, a spacing member comprising a tubular sleeve 7 located through the aperture in the washer, an external flange 8 at one end of the sleeve seated against the washer and an internal projection 9 comprising four spaced, resilient lugs at the other end of the sleeve and a stud 20 comprising a head and a shank having an enlarged end portion 11 adjacent the tip, the end portion being snap engageable into the sleeve past the internal projection thereon, and the shank of the stud being freely movable in the sleeve within limits set by the engagement of the undersurface of the head of the stud against the said other end of the sleeve and the enlarged end portion 11 of the stud against the internal projection 9. The washer has integral, resilient supports 5, spaced around the aperture, which engage the sleeve 7 and resist its withdrawal therefrom. The sleeve with the washer attached is inserted in an aperture in a supporting board 14 and the stud is pressed into deformable material 18 so that the enlarged portion 11 snaps behind the projection, the material 18 can be depressed towards the board and returns to its original position under its natural resilience.
