Abstract

994,424. Stud and socket fastenings. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Feb. 26, 1962 [March 2, 1961], No. 7703/61. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] A fastener, e.g. of synthetic, resin, has a plunger 13 extending into a bore 11A in a head 11 and joined along a line of weakness to the wall of the bore below the top of the head or to a hollow shank 12 extending from the bottom of the head so that when depressed, Fig. 5, the plunger shears from the fastener and enters the shank 12 to spread the tongues 18 of which the latter is composed. The head 11 may be circular or rectangular and is used to join two panels or to secure strip beading 19 which is snapped over or slid on to the head. In modifications, Fig. 6 (not shown) and Fig. 7, the members 18 are spread by the action of the plunger on protuberances on the inner surface of the members.
