Abstract

945,547. Hinges and pivots; clips. F. T. PRODUCTS. Feb. 13, 1961 [Feb. 12, 1960], No. 5076/60. Headings E2B and E2F. In an assembly of two members articulated together with the aid of a U-shaped clip at least one of the members is formed with an aperture or a projection, a registering member, or a part thereof, is located in the aperture or around the projection, and the clip resiliently embraces the two members to hold them securely together so that relative pivotal movement can take place about the registering member. In Fig. 5 the members are flat shafts 38, 39 and the registering member 42 is integral with the shaft 38, but alternatively both shafts may be formed with an aperture 41 to receive a separate cylindrical or spherical registering member or both shafts may have raised portions 42 engaging an apertured registering member. The clip 30 has bent-up circular lugs 34, 35 to locate it in position. In Fig. 10 a shaft 68 is seated in a yoke at the end of a shaft 67 and is articulated by means of a cylindrical registering member 69 and washers 70, 71 which may be integral with the member 69 are provided between the shaft 68 and the limbs of the yoke. In Fig. 12 a dimple 83 formed in a member 81 engages an aperture 79 in a plate 76 and inwardly directed prongs are provided in the shorter limb 86 of the clip 78 to prevent its withdrawal. In Fig. 15 the registering member has a flat body 93 and a split cylindrical portion 98 with one end closed.
