Abstract

1368905 Furniture joints HUWIL-WERKE GmbH 20 Oct 1972 [10 Nov 1971] 48355/72 Heading F2M A connection fitting for furniture, particularly for connecting together two panels 1, 2 at right angles, consists of a moulding of resilient, e.g plastics, material comprising a flange 7 having integrally formed therewith a cylindrical housing 3 and a stud 6 both of which are, in use, let into one panel 1 as shown so that the axis of the housing 3 is coaxial with a bore 20 in the panel, the housing 3 having a coaxial bore in which a rotatable member 4 having an eccentric internal camming surface is made captive, the camming surface being adapted to engage under the bead of a stud 5 previously fitted to the other panel 2, so that upon rotation of member 4 from a predetermined start position the panels are drawn together. The start position is preferably determined by a bead on the internal wall of the housing engaging resiliently within a notch 10 in the member 4. Rotation of member 4 is effected by inserting a tool through bore 20 in the panel from either side into a corresponding one of two screwdriver slots 18, 19 in the ends of the members 4. As seen in Fig. 4 the member 4 has a cut-away portion to receive the bead of the stud 5, a slot 15 being also provided in the flange 7 for this purpose. Member 4 is made captive in the housing bore by projections 8 on its periphery which snap into an undercut portion of the bore.
