Abstract

1306290 Toy building sets A FISCHER 13 May 1970 [30 May 1969 24 June 1969 28 June 1969 22 Oct 1969] 23170/70 Heading A6S [Also in Division E2] A connector 1, Fig. 1, for fastening two components of a toy building set in a manner permitting rotational movement of the first component or lattice element 2 relative to the second component 3, consists essentially of a head 5 in contact (when positioned) with a step in the bore 4 of component 2, neck 6-7 frictionally engaged with the bore 11 of component 3 and a locking part e.g. diametrically opposed projections 10. The connector is first slipped through the bores 4 and 11 of the two components, the projections 10 passing through matching grooves 12, Fig. 2, in component 3, and is then turned until the projections 10 engage the second component at the stop 13. A slot or polygonal recess 8 in the head of the connector provides for it to be engaged and rotated by a screw driver or by the connecting tenon of a brick from a toy building set. Where the first component is angled, the head may be extended sufficiently to enable it to be turned without the brick touching the free leg of the angle, see Fig. 6. The bore 29 in the head may support a shaft. The head may be provided with a wing-like handle 18, Fig. 5. and the projections accommodated in a recess of the component 3 In another embodiment the second component is a toy brick and the locking part of the connector is guided through a re-entrant groove in the brick (Figs. 3 and 7, not shown) by diametrically opposed recesses in the connector and the fastening is made by turning the connector so that the projections engage the re-entrant groove. It is stated that locking could be achieved with matching threads on the connector and bore 11 of the second component, instead of by means of the projections.
