Abstract

1361333 Screwdrivers T L HILL and R MANKOWITSCH 27 March 1972 [25 March 1971] 14283/72 Heading B3N A screw driving and screw gripping tool coin prising at least four lands to contact engaging surfaces when inserted in a recessed head, one of the lands being sprung away from parallel relationship with its longitudinal plane at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the tool to form a resilient tongue which will internally grip a screw head recess. The tool in Fig. 3 has a land 22 separated from the remainder of the screwdriver by milled slots 23. This land 22 is offset from its active position. Fig. 9 slows an Allan key having a tongue portion 30 that has been swaged to bring it into closer alignment with the rest of the tool. Thus when the tool enters a cavity the tongue is forced to abut the rest of the tool thus preventing a weakness of there being a gap between the tongue and the rest of the tool.
