Abstract

1498827 Screwdrivers J W BARLOW 25 March 1975 12358/75 Heading B3N [Also in Division F2] A screw has a triangular, Fig. 11, "tribrachial", Fig. 4 or star-shaped, Fig. 8, recess 27 in the head 24 and the base of the recess has a substantially conical surface 23 with an upwardly directed apex 25. A screwdriver 11 for use therewith Fig. 1 (or Fig. 5, not shown) has longitudinally extending ribs on the shank whose cross-section matches the shape of the recess in the screw. Further slots may be cut into the recess sides and/or corners so that a narrow conventional flat bit screwdriver may be used, e.g. slot 29<SP>1</SP> Fig. 2.
