883,145. Mineral-mining picks. TUNGSTEN CARBIDE DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Sept. 16, 1960 [Sept. 17, 1959], No. 31761/59. Class 68(1). In the side faces 14 of a mineral-mining cutter pick 10 having a head 13 of triangular, rectangular or polygonal crosssection there are provided hard inserts 16 which are integral or contiguous with an insert 15 forming the cutting point or cutting edge or edges of the pick so that a hard insert is presented to mineral to be mined irrespective of which side face of the pick is disposed towards said mineral. A number of preferred embodiments besides the one illustrated are specifically described.
