Abstract
894,678. Centrifugal separators. VISCHER, A. Dec. 24, 1958 [Jan. 10, 1958], No. 41665/58. Class 23. A separator for removing liquid and solid particles from vapour comprises a stationary chamber 19 surrounded by a heating chamber 18 which is connected between the chamber 19 and the source of vapour to be separated. Steam enters the chamber 18, which constitutes a centrifugal separator, through a port 33, steam being discharged from a port 41 and impurities through a line 47 which includes a steam trap 16. The steam from the port 41 passes through a line 48, which includes a solenoid operated valve 14, to discharge tangentially into the chamber 19. Impurities from the chamber 19 are discharged through a duct 72 controlled by a float valve 70, and steam is discharged from the chamber by a line 67 connected with a pressure cooker 11. A vertical duct leading downwardly to the port 33 may be unplugged to serve as an inlet to the chamber 18.
