Abstract
893,678. Chucks. ADAMOVSKE STROJIRNY, NARODNI PODNIK. Dec. 1, 1958 [Nov. 29, 1957], No. 38725/58. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIX] The piston of a compressed air chuck 47 is moved in the direction of the arrow to engage a workpiece upon admitting air to a space 22 on one side of the piston via the channel 110 in a distributer 10, passages 31, 41, a chamber 43 on one side of the diaphragm 50, a non-return valve 44 in a two-part valve body 30, 40, a passage 46, and a port 49; the concomitant movement of the diaphragm 50 unseats another identical but oppositely disposed non-return valve 34 whereby the air in a space 26 on the opposite side of piston 23 is exhausted to another distributer channel 120 via further valve body passages 42, 36, a chamber 33 on the other side of the diaphragm 50, and a passage 32. To release the workpiece the pressure and exhaust channels are reversed as are the functions of the valves 34, 44. The diaphragm 50 is clamped between the body parts 30, 40. The distributer is fixed and carries a ball bearing 13 which rotatably supports the cylinder 20 of piston 23 and body parts 30, 40. In the event of a sudden drop in pressure both valves are closed to prevent escape of fluid from the cylinder.
