A fast-opening and delayed-closing differential-piston actuated pneumatic valve has air at 4 passing via 22 to act in chamber 24 on the lower face of piston 7 whereby valve 12 and seal 14 are quickly lifted out of opening 26 so that air passes to outlet 5 via 25. After a predetermined time, inlet air passes via 37, adjustable throttle 29<SP>1</SP> and 34 to act in chamber 35 above the piston to slowly close the valve. To reopen the valve, the inlet 4 must be connected to exhaust whereby the air above the piston is exhausted via passages 38 and annular elastic check valve 39. The next application of pressure to the inlet lifts the valve piston from below. The space 19 beneath the valve guide stem 15 is vented at 18.
