Abstract

879,985. Pneumatic gauging. SIGMA INSTRUMENT CO. Ltd. June 4, 1958 [March 5, 1957], No. 7330/57. Class 106 (2). [Also in Group XXIX] A fluid-pressure measuring apparatus comprises an anvil 11 positioned in accordance with a dimension of a workpiece and so controlling a pair of series-connected relatively adjustable valves 10, 9 regulating the flow of fluid, such as compressed air, through inlet and exhaust ports 27, 21 from a supply conduit 29, the space between the valves communicating with a second conduit 26 connected to a pressure-responsive device such as an indicator, or to a relay. As shown, the valves 9, 10 are separated by an adjustable screw-threaded spacer 12, 14 carried by the valve 10, contact between the end of the spacer and valve 9 being maintained by a spring 17. The apparatus is primarily intended for use with a workpiece gauging and sorting machine as described in Specification 879,987 and incorporating relay units of the kind described in Specification 879,986.
