690,747. Pneumatic tyres. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. July 6, 1951 [July 19, 1950], No. 18004/50. Class 144 (ii). For regulating the inflation of tyres from a source of compressed air on the vehicles, a control-panel is provided with separate pressurecontrol devices for the front and rear tyres. Each of these devices comprises a nozzle for connection to the compressed-air supply, an inlet-nozzle for one set of tyres, an exhaust conduit, inlet and exhaust valves, and means operated by a control-member to close the exhaust-valve and then open the inlet-valve, the latter being automatically closed at a preselected inflation-pressure. Fig. 1 shows a section of one half of the panel for association with one (front or rear) set of tyres. Fig. 4 shows front and rear tyre pressure gauges with hand-wheels 7, 8 for operating the valvemechanisms and pointers movable over scales on a common dial 6. As shown in Fig. 1, the device comprises a main housing 1 through which extends a shaft 15 carrying the hand wheel 7 and valve-controlling cams 13, 14, a cylindrical extension 4 containing the valvemechanisms and an exhaust-conduit 16. Communicating with each extension 4 are a main supply-inlet 63, a tyre-connection nozzle 51, and a nozzle 34 connected by a pipe-line 75 to the pressure-gauge. The cam 13 actuates, through roller 17, a spring-loaded plunger 18 co-operating with the exhaust-valve 25. The cam 14 serves similarly to actuate a secondary exhaust-valve 72.
