Abstract

892,883. Suction rolls of paper-making machines &c. ESCHER WYSS G.m.b.H. July 17, 1958 [July 18, 1957], No. 22982/58. Class 96. A suction roll for water extraction from paper or pulp webs has one or more suction compartments 10, 11, 12, one more longitudinal walls 13 . . . 17 thereof being adjustable and supported for relative rotation, as by coaxial partcylinders 1<SP>1</SP>, 1, 2 and 3 with rings and ball-races between them, rubber sheets 18 . . . 21 being disposed between them and secured as by bars 22 and screws 23 so that suction can be maintained at the various adjusted positions. A masking ring 24, at each end of the roll, in an arcuate slot formed by the roll shell and a bush is secured to cylindrical rods 25 moved by a disc to allow adjustment endwise of the roll to suit the width of the pulp web &c.
