Abstract

811,831. Rectifier rolls of paper-making machines. BELOIT IRON WORKS. Sept. 16, 1957, No. 29142/57. Class 96. To reduce the bending moments at the ends of a rectifier roll 23 in an open-, or closedtopped flow-box of a paper-making machine, a trunnion projecting from each end of the roll and passing through a side wall 16 of the flowbox is journalled in two or more bearings 29, 30, spaced apart along the trunnion. Packing 31, lubricated at F, may be provided. The rectifier roll may be free from internal obstructions other than the usual rectifying discs. One or more rectifier rolls may cover substantially the whole depth of pulp in the flow-box, the level of which may be maintained by a blow-hole. In a modification, the trunnions are secured to the ends of the roll 23 by resilient rings, e.g. of hard rubber.
