Abstract

271,715. Stone, I. I. Oct. 14, 1926. Feeding webs.-The web R of a newspaper printing-press is supported by cylindrical plugs 25 engaging the spool 26 of the roll and provided with recesses 28 to receive the pointed ends 14, 17 of supporting spindles 12, 16. Flanges 27 limit the extent to which the plugs may enter the spool. The spindle 12 is stationary but the spindle 16 is axially slidable to engage or release the roll by means of a pinion 19 operable by an arm 22 and engaging a rack 18 on the spindle. A number of rolls similarly supported is carried by a pair of spider frames 11 secured to a central rotatable shaft 10.
