Abstract

889,931. Cables. PIRELLI S.p.A. Sept. 22, 1959 [Nov. 26, 1958], No. 14280/61. Divided out of 889,930. Class 36. A composite telephone cable for carrier frequencies comprises seven elements of the same size, of which two are coaxial pairs 1 and 2 each with an insulating covering and one is an electromagnetically screened star-quad 3 with an insulating covering; the coaxial pairs and the quad being arranged along a diameter to form an electromagnetic barrier between two unscreened pairs 4, 5 and the remaining two unscreened pairs 6, 7. The screening of the quad preferably consists of a longitudinally applied copper tape, a helically wound steel tape and a further copper tape applied either helically or longitudinally. The insulation of the conductors may be paper and air, or expanded polyethylene. Specification 846,529 also is referred to.
