Abstract

The process of the parent Specification (wherein regenerated cellulose filaments are produced by adding to viscose 1,0-10% by weight, based on the weight of the cellulose in the viscose, of a polyethylene oxide of molecular weight 300-10,000 and extruding the viscose at a salt point of 5-18 into an aqueous coagulating bath having a sulphuric acid content 0,8-1,5 times the caustic soda content of the viscose and a zinc sulphate content of 3-20%) is modified in that there is also added to the viscose at least 0,03%, based on the weight of the cellulose in the viscose, of a sulphated oil. The latter is defined as an ester of a fatty acid and a fatty alcohol which embodies an alkyl sulphate group comprising a chain of at least 12 carbon atoms. In the example, sulphated methyl oleate is used. The modification of the process increases the lustre of the fibres and prevents "water spotting".
