The process of the parent Specification (wherein viscose containing 5-10% cellulose, 5-10% NaOH and more than 0À05%, based on the weight of viscose, of polyethylene glycol of mol. wt. 600-6000 is spun at a salt figure of 3-14 into a bath containing 5-14% H a SC4, 0À5-4% ZnSO 4 and more than 12% Na 2 SO 4 , and the filaments are stretched at least 50%) is modified in that a zinc compound e.g. sodium zincate, in the proportion of 0À01-0À8% by weight of zinc, based on the weight of viscose, is incorporated into the spinning solution.
