Abstract

888,264. Mixers. E. T. OAKES CORPORATION. Aug. 26, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959], No. 29553/60. Class 86. A mixer has end plates 11, 12 forming stators co-operating with a drum-like rotor 17 having annular rows of teeth as at 27, 28 Fig. 1 extending between similar annular rows on the stators; on both rotor and stators webs as at 31, 32 and 29, 30 respectively, Fig 3, join adjacent teeth and overlap the ends of the teeth on the other member. Material introduced at 19 follows a tortuous path round the rotor to the outlet 21, the webs ensuring that there is no unobstructed radial path through which the material can flow without striking the mixing teeth. A gas such as air, or additional material, may be introduced by the passage 20, and the apparatus may be operated under pressure. There may be passages 15, 16 in the stator for a beat exchange medium. Only one surface of the rotor, and the corresponding stator surface, may have teeth and not all the rows of teeth may have webs.
