Abstract
1,048,921. Gas scrubbers; spray-producers. AJEM LABORATORIES Inc. April 5, 1963, No. 13656/63. Headings B1R and B2F. A gas scrubber of the rotary-spray type has as a liquid impeller one or more horizontal plates mounted for rotation about a vertical axis, each plate having vanes on one or both surfaces. As shown the scrubber has impeller plates 11, 13 and 15, the plates 11 and 13 being supplied with washing liquid by a pump 37 and the plate 15 by a pump 17 rotating with the impeller plates. The vanes may be radial N curved (Figs 2A and 2B not shown) and may extend from the shaft 7 in which the plate or plates is or are mounted to the periphery or peripheries thereof. Preferably however alternate vanes do not extend to the shaft. The arrangement of the vanes on the two faces of a plate and in the different plates may be chosen to give a desired pattern. Liquid to the plates 11 and 13 is fed by pipes 30, 32 and 34 opening tangentially into housings 29, 31 and 33 which surround the shaft and have annular slots (Fig 4A not shown) through which liquid passes to the plates, the plates being slotted adjacent the shaft 7 (Fig 2C, not shown) to allow liquid to pass in to a surface or the surfaces thereof.
