Abstract
1,263,772. Centrifugal liquid contactor/ separator. W. G. P. DOYLE and C. M. DOYLE. 24 April, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 21190/69. Headings B1F and B2P. [Also in Division F2] In a centrifugal liquid/liquid contactor/separator comprising concentric bands 20 around a central shaft 28, heavy liquid is introduced via conduit 30 and ports 58, Figs. 1 and 5, and withdrawn via ports 64 and conduit 34, Figs. 2 and 7, and light liquid is introduced via annular conduit 32 and ports 60, Figs. 1 and 5, and withdrawn via ports 66 and annular conduit 36, Fig. 1. Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the central shaft taken at an angle to that shown in Fig. 1. The arrangement produces a uniform distribution of liquids linearly across the apparatus. The type of central shaft shown can also be used to support the rotor of a centrifugal phase separator. Specifications 1,068,680; 1,058,766 and 963,166 are referred to.
