1,241,412. Gas/liquid and liquid/liquid contact apparatus. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A.B. 20 June, 1968 [22 June, 1967], No. 28811/67. Headings B1F and B1R. The invention relates to apparatus for contacting two fluids of different densities e.g. gas/liquid or liquid/liquid contact. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, liquid from stationary pipes 38 is sprayed into plates 34 which are rotating about shaft 22 and is spread as a thin film along the plates 34 by centrifugal force and contacts gas mixture from port 18 flowing through perforations 36. The liquid may be a solvent for one of the components of the gas mixtures. Gas must flow through annular port 22 to outlet port 32 because of seal 48 acting on annular plate 28. Liquid leaves at 50. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, liquid from the stage above after flowing down partition 52 and across annular gap 64 via channels 66, Fig. 4, is flung out onto plates 34 from bowl 54 by centrifugal force. Some of the liquid passes via perforations 60. Members 58 are frustoconical. Gas passes upwards from stage to stage between members 34 and through annular gap 64. The liquid may be a solvent for dissolving a gas from a gas mixture.
