Abstract

A device for the centrifugal separation of drops of liquid and/or fine-grained solid material from a stream of gas comprises a flow channel housing (1), a swirl-producing assembly (2) with swirl-inducing vanes (3), and a discharge housing (5) surrounding the flow channel housing and forming with it an annular discharge chamber (4). The swirl-inducing vanes (3) are located between a central hub (6) and the flow channel housing (1). The latter is provided, beyond the swirl-producing assembly (2) in the direction of flow, with discharge apertures (7) in the form of slots leading into the annular discharge chamber (4). Discharge channels (9) are attached to at least some of the vanes (3) along the downstream, discharge edges of the vanes, entry slots (11) running along the discharge channel edges on the upstream, inflow side thereof, and the discharge channels (9) discharging into the annular discharge chamber (4) through orifice openings (12). <IMAGE>
