Class 110(3) A fluid flow machine has a rotor with one or more internal passages through which the fluid flows in a curved path including a deflection of about 180 degrees and the openings to and from which lie in axially spaced planes transverse to the rotor axis. The stator is provided with inlet and outlet channels registerable tangentially with the passage openings, the transverse crosssections of the passages and channels being continuously curved. Constructions employing disc-type and drum-type rotors are described.
