Abstract

888,261. Pipe couplings. AEROQUIP A.G. May 26, 1960 [July 6, 1959], No. 18695/60. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXIX] A tank having a liquid-level controlling- means (see also Group XXIX) is supplied with fuel through a pipe coupling comprising parts 12, 50, the part 12 being threaded to the tank and housing a self-sealing valve 22, closed by a spring 26 and opened, when the other coupling part 50 is threaded thereto, and a discharge valve 36 closed by a spring 42 and controlling outlets 32; the valve 36 has a through port 48 leading via a chamber 40 and conduit 44 to a union 46. The other coupling part 50 has radial ports 60 in a sleeve 54, which ports are closed when the part 50 is uncoupled, by a spring- loaded annular self-sealing valve 62 engaging a head 58 on the adjacent end of the sleeve 54. Upon coupling together the parts 12, 50 both valve 22 and 62 are automatically opened.
