Abstract

886,825. Rectifying. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. April 25, 1958 [June 5, 1957], No. 1561/60. Divided out of 886,824. Class 38 (2). Two different D.C. voltages are obtained from an A.C. supply by paralleling a germanium and a silicon rectifier, the silicon rectifier requiring approximately 0.5 volts more forward bias than the germanium. In a 3-phase embodiment, the secondary of the transformer 29b is connected to the main output terminals 13, 14 through a silicon rectifier bridge D3, D4, D6, D7, D9, D10, and to the auxiliary (higher voltage) output terminals 13, 15 through a termanium rectifier half-bridge D5, D8, D11. The output terminal 13 is common to both outputs. In a single-phase embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a smoothing filter is included in each output.
