Class 38(2) Additional half-wave rectifier units 12, 13 series connected in additive relation between rectifier units 1, 3 of a main rectifier bridge 1...4 and one terminal 10 of D.C. load terminals 8, 10 boost the output at the latter, and the arrangement thereby saves the further additional units necessary to making up a complete booster bridge. The main and booster rectifiers are supplied with A.C. at terminals 5, 16 respectively, and the output voltage may be varied by varying the phase or amplitude of the voltage of the booster supply. A three-phase arrangement is also disclosed.
