769,001. Rectifying. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-GES. Oct. 7, 1953 [Oct. 9, 1952], No. 27545/53. Class 38 (2). A multi-phase converter comprises one or more contact devices each of which consists of six contacts 27 which co-operate with alternating current input conductors 13 ... 18, each two of the contacts coacting with one of the direct current output conductors 21 ... 26, the output conductors 21, 22, 23 or 24, 25, 26 being connected together to form one terminal of the direct current output from the converter. When the supply is by way of a mesh connected transformer, the secondary terminals 1 ... 6 thereof are connected by way of commutating reactors 7 ... 12 to two contact devices 19, 20, mechanically coupled together, the terminals 30, 31 of which form the positive and negative direct current terminals respectively. When the supply is from a star connected transformer only one contact device is necessary, the negative direct current terminal being formed by the star point of the transformer. In another embodiment using a star-connected transformer, each commutating reactor is provided with two windings which are connected to the two alternating current input conductors associated with a direct current conductor. In this case two contact devices are used, all six direct current conductors being connected together to form one direct current terminal.
