[Also in Group XL (c) In a four party-line ringing circuit, a junction diode 55 and rectifier 59 are arranged at each substation. The junction 55 is of the type in which a high resistance is presented in the reverse direction until a critical voltage is exceeded when the junction operates as a constant voltage device of low impedance. Two of the bell sets 51, 52 are connected to line 49 so that operation of switch 44 to the upper position enables one or other to be operated. By applying a positive or negative bias by means of switch 43, superimposed on the source 41 of ringing current, junction 55 or 56 is driven into its low impedance condition to cause the bell set 51 or 52 to operate.
