Abstract
902,822. Protective arrangements. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Dec. 17, 1959 [Jan. 15, 1959], No. 1490/59. Class 38 (4). An under or over voltage protective circuit comprises an electronic circuit-breaker device 16 which disconnects a load 13 from a supply source 10 when the source voltage exceeds a determined relationship with a reference source 28. The device 16 may be a transistor which is switched by a two-state electronic circuit comprising valves or transistors 17, 18, 21 arranged to normally maintain the device 16 conducting. The device 16 may alternatively operate a relay with contacts in the load circuit. The source 28 may be a large capacitor fed from the supply source through a high resistance (see Fig. 2, not shown), so that the reference source has a value equal to the average voltage of the supply source. The two state circuit may embody semi-conductor four electrode devices or double base diodes.
