Abstract

886,348. Electrically released switches. TELEMECANIQUE ELECTRIQUE. Nov. 12, 1958 [Nov. 21, 1957; July 3, 1958], No. 36385/58. Class 38 (5). A thermally-operated circuit-breaker comprises two resiliently-mounted contacts 9a, 12a held in contact by a movable projection 25 on a bimetal strip 27 on a shaft 26, the movement of which is controlled by a further bimetal 28 carrying the current to be controlled. The contact 12a is pivoted on a pin 13 of an insulating member 14 mounted on a resilient strip 15 so that by deforming the strip by a cam surface 18b on an adjusting knob, the overlap of the contact and projection 25 (and thus the operating point of the breaker) can be varied. Both contacts are arrested during opening by a rod 20 and flange 24 and are movable together by the rod in resetting. A reset button 21 is provided. A modified construction in which the two contacts are pivoted direct to the strip 15 and separated by a helical spring is also disclosed. Figs. 4-7 (not shown).
