Abstract
898,533. Thermal switches. ELLENBERGER & POENSGEN G.m.b.H. Oct. 21, 1960 [Oct. 24, 1959], No. 36269/60. Addition to 860,861. Class 38 (5). The thermally-operated circuit-breaker of the parent Specification is modified by forming the rocking member 29 as a snap-acting, deadcentre, leaf spring with V-shaped ends 30, 31 engaging bimetal 16 and contact blade 15 respectively. In the open position, the notch in end 31 moves to a position beyond the cold position of the bimetal, in which position it raises a reset button 24 which requires to be depressed to re-set the movable contact. The reset button 24 slides in a recess in the casing and has a transverse slot therein which receives a retaining shoulder 26 of the casing. The button is normally biased downwards by a spring 27. The circuit-breaker may alternatively be reset electromagnetically.
