Abstract
707,569. Thermal switches; electromagnetic switches. MIDLAND ELECTRIC MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. May 8, 1952 [May 8, 1951], No. 10765/51. Class 38(5) Upon overload a thermally or electromagnetically operated member m moves to the left carrying with it a lever h so that a spring j arranged between the lever h and a lever d is moved over a dead-centre position and a contact f separated from a fixed contact g. The levers h, d are both pivoted at e and in the form shown a bimetal strip k heated by a current carrying loop r operates the member m. To reset the switch a bar o is moved downwards so as to engage a protuberance p on the lever h and move it back to its original position, the spring j again passing over dead-centres and the contact f snapping into engagement with the contact g. Further depression of the bar o from this position will open the contacts by causing the bar to engage a protuberance q on the lever d.
