Abstract
813,628. Press-button retractive switches. N.S.F. Ltd. Dec. 5, 1955 [Sept. 3, 1954], No. 25622/54. Class 38 (5). A snap-action multi-pole switch of the toggle type has two contact members 21 independently pivoted on the " operating " member 13, which is itself pivoted at its end by a semi-circular projection 13c, and may be actuated by a pressbutton 29. The member 13 is of insulating material and carries on its sides metal members 18, 19 with down-turned ends 20 in apertures of which the contact members 21 pivot. Two springs 25 are respectively connected at one end to the contact members and at the other end to fixed brackets 2G. A tie plate 35 connects the two contact members which pass through flared openings in the plate to allow for a certain amount of relative movement of the contact members for self-alignment with the fixed contacts 23, 24. In the form shown the member 13 is biased upwards by a spring 17 and the press button 29 acts downwards on it through a spring 33 and plunger 27. The member 13 is thus moved till the toggle formed by the members 13 and 21 is straightened out and passes a dead-centre position after which the springs 25 snap the contact members into their other position. Sealing rings 31 are provided for the push-button.
