Abstract

885,161. Press-button retractive switches. ROBERTSHAW-FULTON CONTROLS CO. Aug. 21, 1958 [Nov. 29, 1957], No. 26933/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXII] A snap-action switch comprises an actuating member, an actuated member, and an arcuate strip spring interposed between the members, the spring having a cross-section that varies along its length so that the stress therein is substantially uniform. As shown, the actuating member 34 and the actuated member 36 are formed from a single blade, the member 36 carrying a contact 50 movable between contacts or stops 60, 62, when the member 34 is actuated by a push-button 84. The member 34 is biased upwards so that the switch is retractive Two forms of the arcuate spring 52 are shown in Figs. 4 and 11. The shape of the spring 52 is calculated according to formulas set out in the Specification. U.S.A. Specifications 2,237,705, 2,558,219 and 2,558,258 are referred to.
