Abstract
882,454. Toy guns. CRESCENT TOY CO. Ltd. July 28, 1960 [Aug. 5, 1959], No. 26768/59. Class 132(3) A cap-firing mechanism for a toy gun has a hammer which is operated by a cap-feed finger. As shown, a cap-firing mechanism in a toy rifle 1 is carried by a breech plate 2, pivoted at 3 and latchable in position by a spring loaded ball 7, and comprises a pivoted spring loaded trigger 5 having an arm 15 to which a spring loaded cap-feed finger 17 is pivoted at 16. On operating the trigger, the cap-feed finger 17 slides along a ridge 23 on the breech plate and then engages a strip of caps 30 to feed it forward over a guide surface 25 from a roll 31 in a recess formed by the breech plate 2, the guide surface 25 and a circular plate 32. A spring loaded hammer 34 having an arm 39 is pivoted at 35 and is operated by engagement of the cap-feed finger 17 with the arm 39 while the finger moves over the guide surface. The finger pivots the hammer to the position shown in chain lines after which the arm 39 withdraws behind the guide surface and the finger passes on thus releasing the hammer which springs forward and fires a cap on an anvil 33. The trigger, on release, returns to its initial position under spring action, the cap-feed finger 17 riding along a camming surface 40 of the arm 39 clear of the cap strip.
